About Us

 

The Indiana School for the Deaf was established as the state educational resource center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children, in accordance with House Enrolled Act No. 1904, Section II, IC20-16-2-1., which includes the following:

     * A residential and day school

    *Outreach Services which includes consultative services to local educational agencies to assist them in meeting the needs of locally enrolled Deaf or Hard of Hearing Students.

 

We serve all children who are Deaf or hard or Hearing and their families, as well as the professionals that work with them, at no cost.

OUTREACH OUTCOMES

•Deaf and Hard of Hearing children will develop communication, language, social, emotional, and cognitive skills from the earliest possible age, which is fundamental to educational success.

 

•Families will acquire complete information regarding early childhood development, language acquisition and development, and the connection to academic and socio-emotional learning.

 

•Programs and services will be family and child-centered.

 

•All Deaf and Hard of Hearing children will have access to Deaf and Hard of Hearing adult role models.

 

•Families will have available training and advocacy services.

 

•Outreach Staff will foster partnerships that support educational policies and practices to promote quality education for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
